Why Local Matters

Why work with a Cape Town developer?

Same timezone, same language

No midnight calls. No miscommunication. I work South African business hours (09:00-17:00 SAST) and we speak the same language - Afrikaans or English, whichever you prefer.

Face-to-face when it counts

Based in the Cape Town metro area. Available for in-person meetings, site visits, or a coffee to talk through your project. Most work happens remotely, but the option is there when you need it.

I understand your market

South African payment gateways (PayFast, Peach Payments, Ozow). POPIA-aware data handling requirements. Load shedding resilience. I have built for the South African market for over a decade and understand the constraints and opportunities.

SA-registered, professional operation

Villiers Vision Works (Pty) Ltd is a registered South African company. Proper contracts, invoicing, and accountability. Not a side hustle.

Cape Town Heritage

WooCommerce was born here

WooThemes - the company that created WooCommerce - was founded in Cape Town before being acquired by Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com). WooCommerce now powers 28%+ of all online stores globally. I worked with WooThemes in 2014 as a support engineer and affiliated WooWorker, supporting 885+ clients with custom development. That heritage gives me inside knowledge of the platform that most WordPress developers simply do not have.

Timeline

Typical Engagements

Cape Town clients usually come in through one of three routes: rescue work on something already live, a focused feature or integration build, or a bigger custom software brief.

  • Fix or rescue existing software: days - urgent debugging, recovery, broken integrations, or stability work on a live system.
  • Feature or integration build: 1-3 weeks - new functionality, payment gateways, reporting, or system connections on an existing platform.
  • Custom application or module work: scoped after discovery - broader cloud app, internal tool, or platform work once requirements are clear.
Direct Access

Broad local entry point.

If the work is better suited to WordPress, e-commerce, booking, or a larger platform build, I will say so and route it properly.
