Why work with a Cape Town developer?
Same timezone, same language
No midnight calls. No miscommunication. I work South African business hours (09:00-17:00 SAST) and we speak the same language - Afrikaans or English, whichever you prefer.
Face-to-face when it counts
Based in the Cape Town metro area. Available for in-person meetings, site visits, or a coffee to talk through your project. Most work happens remotely, but the option is there when you need it.
I understand your market
South African payment gateways (PayFast, Peach Payments, Ozow). POPIA-aware data handling requirements. Load shedding resilience. I have built for the South African market for over a decade and understand the constraints and opportunities.
SA-registered, professional operation
Villiers Vision Works (Pty) Ltd is a registered South African company. Proper contracts, invoicing, and accountability. Not a side hustle.
What I build for Cape Town businesses
WordPress & WooCommerce
Support, rescue, custom development, and integrations for WordPress and WooCommerce. The platform most Cape Town businesses already run on. I have been working with WordPress for 15 years and WooCommerce since its earliest days at WooThemes - a Cape Town company.
WordPress & WooCommerce›Custom Web Applications
Cloud-based applications, dashboards, admin panels, booking systems, and internal tools. When your business needs software that does not exist off the shelf.
Cloud Applications›API Servers & Integrations
Connect your systems. Custom API servers, third-party integrations, and microservices that let your platforms talk to each other reliably.
API & Integrations›Mobile App Development
React Native apps for iOS and Android. Companion apps for your existing systems - field reporting, customer portals, mobile dashboards.
Mobile Apps›Work delivered for South African businesses
Recycle Point-of-Sale System
Enterprise POS system for a Cape Town recycling operation. 7 branches, 350 employees, 5,000+ daily transactions. 13 months of development.
Telecom Rewards & Subscription APIs
High-scale API systems for MTN, Vodacom, CellC, and Telkom. Millions of daily transactions. Loyalty points, stamps, vouchers, QR-based redemption, and subscription management.
Authentikor | Email Verification SaaS
My own SaaS product built in Cape Town. Verified email delivery and QR-based document verification. Multi-tenant architecture with subscription billing.
Medical & Dental Practice Platform
Patient records, dental charting, appointment scheduling, billing with medical aid claims, and clinical notes. POPIA-compliant data handling throughout.
WooCommerce was born here
WooThemes - the company that created WooCommerce - was founded in Cape Town before being acquired by Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com). WooCommerce now powers 28%+ of all online stores globally. I worked with WooThemes in 2014 as a support engineer and affiliated WooWorker, supporting 885+ clients with custom development. That heritage gives me inside knowledge of the platform that most WordPress developers simply do not have.

Typical Engagements
Cape Town clients usually come in through one of three routes: rescue work on something already live, a focused feature or integration build, or a bigger custom software brief.
- Fix or rescue existing software: days - urgent debugging, recovery, broken integrations, or stability work on a live system.
- Feature or integration build: 1-3 weeks - new functionality, payment gateways, reporting, or system connections on an existing platform.
- Custom application or module work: scoped after discovery - broader cloud app, internal tool, or platform work once requirements are clear.
Broad local entry point.
If the work is better suited to WordPress, e-commerce, booking, or a larger platform build, I will say so and route it properly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you based in Cape Town?
Yes. I live and work in Cape Town, South Africa. My company, Villiers Vision Works (Pty) Ltd, is registered in South Africa. I work from a home office with fibre internet (500/200 Mbps), LTE backup, and solar/battery backup for load shedding.
Do you meet clients in person?
Yes, when it makes sense. Most projects are managed remotely with video calls, screen shares, and messaging. But I am available for face-to-face meetings in the Cape Town area when the project calls for it.
Do you only work with Cape Town clients?
No. I work with clients across South Africa and internationally - the US, UK, Europe, and Australia. Cape Town is my home base, but my work is not limited by geography.
What South African payment gateways do you integrate with?
PayFast, Peach Payments, Ozow, and others. I also integrate international gateways like Stripe and PayPal for businesses that serve global customers.
What are your rates?
I offer hourly, daily, weekly, and fixed-budget pricing depending on the project. Every project is scoped individually, and I provide a clear estimate before any work begins.
